Terms of Service

Effective 15 July 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Canny Pigeons ("we", "us") covering your use of the DMARC monitoring service at cannypigeons.com and app.cannypigeons.com. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. We've kept them short and honest — please actually read them.

1. The service

Canny Pigeons receives DMARC aggregate reports for domains you register, parses them, and presents them in a dashboard. In hosted mode we also publish and manage the DMARC DNS record for your domain inside our zone, so you can change policy from the dashboard. Details of what data this involves are in the Privacy Policy.

2. Your account and organisation

3. Acceptable use

4. DNS authority (hosted mode)

When you use hosted mode, you instruct and authorise us to create, modify, and remove the DMARC record we serve for your domain from our DNS zone. We act on the policy choices you make in the dashboard. Hosted records are removed when a domain is deactivated by a plan downgrade, when you delete the domain or your account, or when the record's continued publication would abuse the service. Your own DNS — including the CNAME you point at us — always remains under your control.

5. Plans and billing

6. Your data

Your report data is yours. We process it to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy, and you can delete all of it at any time via Settings.

7. Service changes and availability

We aim for the service to be fast and reliable, but it's provided without an uptime SLA on current plans. We may add, change, or retire features; if a change materially reduces what you pay for, we'll tell you in advance. DMARC reporting itself depends on third-party mailbox providers sending reports — we can't control whether, when, or how completely they do.

8. A DMARC-specific warning

DMARC policy changes affect real mail flow. Advancing to p=quarantine or p=reject can cause legitimate mail to be spam-foldered or rejected if your senders aren't correctly authenticated. The dashboard exists to help you make that call safely, but the decision — and its consequences for your mail — are yours.

9. Termination

10. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, and our total liability for any claim arising from the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or AUD $50 if you're on the Free plan). We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost mail, lost revenue, or the actions of mailbox providers. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any non-excludable consumer guarantees.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and disputes belong to the courts there.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or in the app before they take effect. Using the service after that means you accept the new terms.
